Yes, it’s hard working with me… There! I said it lol but it’s only because of my high standards and I don’t give a shit about anything else but the work.
Anyone that knows me know that I don’t sleep and won’t stop til its done. But that really isn’t a big deal in the music business, everyone works hard. Only difference is i’m working hard for a different goal than most. Most “producers” are cool with placing records for artist on major labels which isn’t a bad lil hustle, though, sometimes thats all they can do. Then you have the ones that don’t give a shit about music and jumps on the bandwagon for a check… not knockin that either, i’m just saying.I don’t chase album placements because i’m trying to build a legacy not a resume.
My goal has always been BIGGER. My plan is to start a label grass roots/ ground up and grow it into the greatest record label in the world. Im a producer/ CEO but like no other. God has givin me so many different talents its scary. I mean, how many producers do you know that writes, sings, develop artist, shoot all the photos, all the videos? (feels like i’m leaving something out) lol anyway, when i’m editing videos or photos i wonder,. why me? Sometime we will cut a song til 2am and i’m like”ok lets shoot some pics now!” and their thinking they were gonna go home after the session. Smh
I have sat in front of presidents of major labels after flying me out to meet them, They ALL look at me like i’m Santa Clause then gaze at me like i’m an enemy. Are they seeing something that maybe cause a problem for them years down the line? I am at a point i’m not waiting for nothing, or no one else anymore. I have artist that i’m working with now that has made it all worth the wait! And what i cant do for them, word of mouth or the streets will. The best thing about Champ Camp is the range of talent i’m dealing with. Im so focused right now, it’s almost like i’m not me. But I thank God for who I am right now, and that’s a CHAMP- D.Smith
